4 Of The Best Vegan Concealers Around

Hey Lovelies!

One product I consistently review is the concealer. A key product in anyone’s makeup arsenal; therefore, having a good one is of paramount importance. Now, with cruelty-free and vegan products in high demand, the selection is growing. This means no more do we need to settle for lesser quality or pay higher prices. I’ve tested many and the following are 5 of the best concealers around:

For EVERYTHING Concealer

1.Too Faced Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Scultpting Concealer, £24, www.lookfantastic.com

The multi-tasker makes light work of its mission to conceal, contour, correct and highlight. Whatever your skin need, this liquid concealer delivers flawless results – AND IS NOT REMOTELY CAKEY!! Available in 16 shades, there is bound to be a shade to suit your skin tone. Too Faced, I love you!

For Discoloration and Longwear

2.Barry M All Night Long Concealer, £4.49, www.superdrug.com

Should your concern be predominantly discoloration and the need for long-lasting coverage, this is the perfect vegan concealer. Expect an even skin tone, soft-focus effect and a burst of luminosity. This concealer is so easy to blend, providing seamless results that stay put. For an added boost it combines moisturising and skin repairing vitamin E.

I would say a little of this concealer goes a long way. I found it best to just lightly apply to problematic areas rather than liberally splash on. The concealer certainly is long-lasting – I’m not sure about all night long, but it definitely stayed put until 3am!

This incredible vegan and cruelty-free liquid concealer is a game-changer for those with discoloration concerns.

For Dry Skin and Travel-Friendly

3.bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating Foundation Stick (SPF25), £29, www.bareminerals.co.uk

Keep Your Neck In Check With These Outstanding Creams

Hey Lovelies!

It’s a well-known fact that the skin on the neck is often the first hit by the dreaded age-factor; don’t let your neck let you down. Having reviewed many, here is my pick of the most outstanding neck creams.

The Best Neck Creams:

1.Elemis Pro-Collagen Neck & Decollete Balm, £52, www.elemis.com

When it comes to restoring youth to your neck and décolletage area, Elemis has you covered (quite literally). Combining scientifically proven ingredients to firm, nourish and tighten the skin, a little of this product will go a long way to achieving incredible results. Included is sea buckthorn to aid in restoring damaged skin, padina pavonica to deal with those pesky fine lines and algae to boost skin elasticity. For optimal results, this should be incorporated into your skincare routine long-term and you will begin to notice a signifiant improvement by the end of the first month if use.

2.Neostrata Skin Active Triple Firming Neck Cream, £65, www.facethefuture.co.uk

When it comes to neck rejuvenation, we need some serious ingredients. NeoStrata’s Skin Active Triple formula is where you will find such special wonders. Combining ceramides, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and peptides – basically all the essential stuff to diminish the dreaded crepe-y neck and revitalising it to one of former glory – puts this into hero product category.

3.L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Golden Balm- Face, Chest & Neck, £19.99, www.amazon.co.uk

One thing I’ve recently noticed is the sad fact that my until lately very perfect neck has begun to suffer from tech-neck syndrome. Staring at my laptop, writing articles until the wee hours each night has finally begun to take its toll. Never fear – should you notice a similar predicament; this little gem works exceptionally well. The results are noticeably fewer fine lines, as well as firmer and more moisturised skin. Better yet – it doesn’t cost a bomb. Phew!

4.SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2, £130 (48ml), www.lookfantastic.com

This superior product is super-pricey because it packs a mighty punch. Richly concentrated with lipids, pure ceramides, natural cholesterol and fatty acids, the anti-aging formula gets to work to slow down the signs of aging. Aiding in the restoration of your skin’s own barrier function and self-repair, this product works both instantly and over time. Furthermore, the specially formulated components treat fine lines, skin sagging and all those unwanted things that come with age to greet your skin. Take that time!

5 Tips For Ensuring Your Makeup Stays Put In This Heatwave

Hey Lovelies!

Hot enough for you? We have embarked upon a heatwave that puts the UK well and truly in a siesta-worthy situation (about time, I say). But how do we ensure our makeup remains intact, so we stay looking incredible this summer? No, people we are not trying out at Alice Cooper impersonation auditions!  Check out these 5 top tips to keep our hard-earned flawless makeup looking awesome.

1.Preparation is Key

MAC prep+ Prime skin
Credit: Look Fantastic

Okay, after applying a hydrating moisturiser and SPF, it is vital to prep your skin with a primer that is perfect for both your skin type and the weather conditions. Look for a product that is long-lasting, sweat and waterproof. For info on this you can read my Best Primers For Every Skin Type here. I love Mac’s Prep+Prime. £23 (Look Fantastic).

Water-Based Foundation

lancome teint miracle foundation
Credit: John Lewis

Oil-based foundations and extreme sweating do not mix. Therefore, it is better to opt for a light and water-based foundation, whilst we are in heat that could win in a Pepsi challenge with the temperature of Egypt right now. A great one is Lancôme’s Teint Miracle Foundation SPF 15, £33.50, John Lewis. The formula feels lightweight and yet luxurious, is long wear with a matte finish and provides a super-boost of hydration your skin will appreciate. Awesome!

If you are planning on going for a dip, Urban Decay’s new Waterproof Foundation is a dream £22, Urban Decay. Lightweight, long-lasting and available in 50 shades. Urban Decay – you rock!

3.Don’t Overdo Products

justin timberlake sad crying
Giphy

Layering is not a great idea during the el scorchio weeks. Keep your makeup routine light and simple. Too much and it won’t end well. Believe me! A little dab of mineral-based powder once you have applied your foundation will go a long way.

4.Mascaras and Eyeliners

Diorshow waterproof mascara
Dior

Steer clear from eyeliners if at all possible. When it comes to mascaras opt for a good waterproof one like Diorshow Waterproof Mascara £28, Dior. This mascara speaks volumes (pardon the pun). No clumping, no smudging just a luscious look that stays put even when droplets of sweat are forming on your forehead – 39 degrees – bring it on!

5.Setting Sprays

urban decay all nighter setting spray
Credit: Urban Decay

Choose a good setting spray that will guarantee your makeup is in the same place as when you applied it (rather than an inch lower on your face). I love Urban Decay’s All Nighter, £24, Look Fantastic.

Have you tried any of these products and what are your thoughts?

Have a great day tomorrow and keep cool. Xx

Check Out The Best Summer Primers For Every Skin Type

Hey Lovelies!

When it comes to achieving a flawless look, primers are key. Summer is officially here, bringing with it the greatest test for long-lasting makeup; thus, this product is now of ultimate importance. We don’t want a cakey finish, sweat-induced streaks of foundation or liner that looks more like your 5-year-old has taken a marker to your face. We just want our flawless look to remain as gorgeous as when we first applied it. Too much to ask? Not with these amazing summer primers for every skin type/concern.

1.Sweat-Proof Primer for Oily Skin Choose: Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Perfecting Primer, £28 (40ml), www.spacenk.com

Credit: spacenk

Should you suffer from particularly oily skin or sweat a lot, this is will be like your secret beauty weapon. Becca’s Ever-Matte Poreless PerfectingPrimer is a massive hit amongst celebrities and makeup artists alike. The formula is drying and so the idea is to dab a pea-sized amount on your most oily areas such as the T-zone. For those with dry or more mature skin, I would advise to add this primer to a hydrating moisturiser or facia oil. This product is both mattifying and so long-lasting.

2.For A multi-Tasking and Vegan Primer Choose: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water, £22 (116ml), www.lookfantastic.com

smashbox photo finish primer water
Credt: look fantastic

Okay, if you are super-lazy like me and want an all-singing, all-dancing primer this is a true hero product just waiting to be in your life forever more. This formula makes easy work of prepping, priming and setting your makeup. Smashbox’s 3-in-1 primer combines refreshing electrolytes that fully hydrate the skin. Furthermore, you can expect a gentle yet powerful spritz of moisture to softly transform your complexion into a beautiful canvas in moments. Ready set action, makeup. Once applied, the finished look will be locked firmly in place for the entire day. When lunchtime arrives and the sun is too hot to bear, bring out this spray and spritz for the ultimate revival of cooling radiance. YYYAASSSS.

This product is vegan, cruelty free

3.For Fine Lines/Wrinkles Choose: The Hero Project Double Blur HD Ready Skin Perfecter, £24, www.amazon.co.uk

Lines, lines, go away – don’t come back another day. I was sent the Hero Project’s products a year ago and have been a fan ever-since. If fine lines and wrinkles are your beef, this little gem warrior will quickly blur, diminishing any evidence of their existence.

4.For Redness / Uneven Skin Tone Choose: MAC Prep + Prime, £23. www.lookfantastic.com

MAC prep+ Prime skin

Ensure your skin stays flawlessly radiant throughout summer. MAC’s Prep + Prime Skin offers an incredibly lightweight gel that both greatly reduces redness whilst enhancing a gorgeous luminosity you will love. Combined in MAC’s formula is caffeine, green tea extract and sucrose which aids in calming the skin. Also included are powerful and proven antioxidants sourced from algae extracts and mulberry to nourish, pamper and even skin tone. You will be amazed at the results.

5.For Large Pores Choose: Dr. Brandt. Pores No More Refiner Primer £50 (30ml), www.amazon.co.uk

dr Brandt pore no more refiner primer
Credit: Amazon

All of you who suffer similarly to me with irksome enlarged pores, listen up: this primer is where it’s at. Seriously. Tried and tested, the formula instantly decreases the appearance of pores, fine lines and pesky imperfections – both instantly and over time! This product also absorbs excess oil whilst mattifying any shine; thus, it is the perfect primer for summer sweatiness too. Close-up pic for Instagram? No sweat!

Note: Another great tip is for those with extremely oily or sweaty skin types to opt for mineral based products that further reduce shine and mattify the skin. However, should you suffer from dry or mature skin these are products to give a miss.

Have you tried any of these primers and what are your thoughts?

Discover The Best Camouflage Makeup Around: Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Maximum Cover

Hey Lovelies!

I was recently given Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body to try. This concealer makeup provides the ultimate coverage. Literally transforming the look of my skin, it allows me to wear pretty much whatever summer clothes I choose without feeling self-conscious at all (well, to a point anyway). Discover why Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Maximum Cover is the best camouflage makeup around.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup for Face and Body SPF15, £33.50 (30ml), www.esteelauder.com

Okay, here’s the deal: should you have acne scars, age spots, blemishes, bruises, pigmentation, sun spots, varicose veins, or basically any imperfection (let’ face it, who the HELL doesn’t?) that you wish to conceal, this is a must-have product. Gone are the days where you opt for tights or trousers and a day that is too el scorchio for words, for fear of displaying those imperfections. Thank you, Estee Lauder – you are a true hero brand!

For Body:

This liquid formula works incredibly well on the body. Making fast work of hiding away all imperfections, the product can even be used post-surgery. It offers a natural-looking matte finish that is both water-proof and will last all day without the worry of streaking. One point I should make is DO NOT apply this without a blender / blending brush. For this I chose my fave blending tool ever – Iconic London’s Blender. Do not make the mistake of thinking it will be fine without one – a blending tool is vital!

For Face:

estee lauder double wear maximum cover
Credit: tigerroomblog

Available in 14 different shades, this makeup is a true colour matching gem. I opted for the shade, Dawn. The liquid cover blends in seamlessly and achieves flawless results you will love. My skin is quite dry, and I have enlarged pores. Should anyone else suffer a similar fate, my advice is to thoroughly moisturise with a hydrating formula pre-application, also adding a primer. Additionally, you should be applying the product to your face with your blender too. Failure to follow those steps will result in a shabby-looking finish that looks worse (i.e cakey or exaggerated pores) rather than better. Also, you may not notice this until you step outside (and happen to have a pocket mirror with you)!

Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Maximum Cover contains aloe leaf to nourish and sooth, soybean oil (to neutralise free radicals) and vitamin E to further protect.

In summary, Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Maximum Cover is awesome!

Has anyone else tried this amazing product and what are your thoughts? Leave me a message in the comments below. Have a great week people!

Hey Lovelies!

Want the results retinol offers without the side-effects? Retinol’s days may be numbered! It’s time to discover the natural alternative, bakuchiol.

When it comes to skincare there are a few key products we should all be using. These include vitamin C, E and retinol (vitamin A) and are brimming with vital antioxidant value. However, now there is another antioxidant on the table – making its name known across the globe for providing outstanding skin-loving benefits. Discover bakuchiol and why it is way better than retinol.

What is This Mystical Bakuchiol You Talk Of?

Pronounced “buh-coo-chee-all”, this antioxidant is in a beauty league of its own. Revered for having retinol-like anti-aging abilities, with its superpowers being the reduction of inflammation and excelling in the rejuvenation mission – this component packs a powerful punch and is literally transformative.

Bakuchiol is sourced from the bakuchiol seeds of the babchi plant, found mainly in Asia. offering a natural alternative to retinol. This plant-derived ingredient is perfect for those who are looking for all-natural skincare that delivers the same outstanding results we see from retinol. Should you suffer from sensitive skin and do not tolerate retinol products well, listen up; this has shown to cause none of the retinol-induced side effects yet gives the same outstanding results.

Basically, bakuchiol provides the skin with boosted collagen levels, added elasticity and the reduction of lines and wrinkles. All of this can be achieved without even a hint of flaky skin. Sold yet? I know I am.

Some Reasons Bakuchiol Rocks:

This fabulously cost-effective yet exceptional moisturiser by The Inkey List combines bakuchiol together with omega-3, sacha inchii oil and squalene. These ingredients work in unison to achieve incredible anti-aging and nourishing results.

Should you hate wrinkles (like me) you can go ahead and wave bye bye to them. This component has shown to actively reduce the appearance of this troublesome feature. Thank you, God!

Better yet, bakuchiol’s anti-inflammatory properties mean that acne and blemishes go from being a volcanic eruption of despair to being reduced to an insey wincey tiny dot soon to be out of your life forever. (Evoking bizarrely similar traits as to that of my recent break-up.)
