Everything You Need To Know About BB And CC Creams

Hey Lovelies!

When it comes to BB and CC creams there seems to be no shortage of choice. These are a great option for those who want to save time on their skincare routine and are looking for slightly less coverage than a foundation. But which to choose? Read on to discover the differences between BB and CC creams and what you should opt for depending on your skin concern.

The Difference Between BB Creams And CC Creams

BB Creams:

BB (or beauty balm) creams are basically tinted moisturisers that contain specific qualities. Some offer blemish protection, some provide primer or anti-aging benefits, and most will offer an SPF. A BB cream generally aids in the prevention of skin concerns and are great for those lazy days.

CC Creams:

CC (or colour correcting) creams add a tad more coverage than a BB creams, making them the go-to choice for more mature skin with certain concerns. Whether the problem is dealing with age spots, redness or wrinkles, a CC cream will help by colour correcting, priming and concealing the issue.

Which Should You Choose?

1.For Aging Skin Use A CC Cream. Try: Thrive Causmetics Buildable Blur CC Cream, $38, www.thrivecausmetics.com

Although there are a few BB creams that support aging skin, should you have noticeable and significant imperfections you wish to conceal, a CC cream is the better option. Mature skin types that have hyperpigmentation or sallow skin will benefit from CC creams that contain antioxidants as well as vitamins C and E. Thrive’s multitasking formula successfully blurs (with their Blur Effect Technology), whilst the colour correcting micro-pigments and vitamin C offer optimal hydration and buildable colour correction. Say goodbye to unsightly pores and unwanted signs of aging. Better yet, it comes in 18 shades and has an SPF35.

Another fantastic product is IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF50, £31, www.itcosmetics.co.uk

This awesome anti-aging cream boasts an array of highly beneficial ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, niacin, peptides and vitamins A, C and E.

2.For Blemish Prevention Choose BB Creams. Try: No.7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream, £22.50, amazon.co.uk

BB creams are specifically formulated to prohibit blemishes, so this is a fabulous product to try.  Expect nourished and enhanced skin and warrior-like fighting against irksome blemishes.

For more information read my article on the best BB creams to try here.

3.For Skin With Existing Blemishes Try CC Creams. Opt for: by Terry Cellularose Moisturising CC Cream, £44.35, www.amazon.co.uk

CC creams offer slightly more coverage, so if you already have blemishes, this would be the preferable cream to choose. By Terry offers an all-singing, all-dancing formula, specifically created to conceal any imperfections, as well as discolouration and redness. Brimming with hydrating qualities and vitamin E for protection, this is a true hero CC cream.

4.For Luminosity Choose: BB Cream. Try MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm SPF35, £25, www.lookfantastic.com

BB creams are designed to provide that much sought-after healthy glow (set to be a key beauty trend this A/W 2019) and to enhance your natural beauty. Great for tired skin, MAC’s pearlised pigments get straight to work, blurring, disguising and creating that much-needed glow.

5.For Redness Choose A CC Cream (Always). Try: La Roche Posay Rosaliac Anti-Redness CC Crème, £15, www.boots.com

This is a fantastic CC cream that effectively deals with all kinds of redness and is suitable for those with fair to medium skin types. This formula glides quickly and seamlessly, making light work of hydrating, smoothing and concealing problem areas. Amazing!

1.Eye Cream: For Damaged/Dry/Mature Skin Choose Benton Fermentation Eye Cream (10z), £19.04, uk.iherb.com

The eyes are the window to the soul and as such, we want them looking gorgeously appealing for a s long as possible. No one understands this more than Korean women and one of their favourite is Benton’s Fermentation Eye Cream. So, I took this advice and have been using the eye cream for 2 months and I love how smooth my eye area both looks and feels.

Combining ingredients such as Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Bifida Ferment Lysate, sh-Oligopeptide-1, and Ceramides, the cruelty-free formula really makes a difference to those with dry or aging skin. Furthermore, this high-quality and much sought-after eye cream contains macadamia seed oil. This wondrous ingredient combines fatty acids (including Omega 9) to fully moisturise, regenerate and soften the skin. You will love the results!

2.Moisturiser: For Dry Skin Try LJH Dr.’s Care BIO+N Barrier Cream For Oily, Sensitive And Very Dry Skin (Anti-Aging), $15, www.amazon.com

The rationale behind K-beauty’s 10-step system is that by layering up your products, your skin will truly reap the benefits. Moisturising is the one remaining step in a Korean night-time skincare routine and should you have dry skin, you need to look for a product that not only contains hydrating components, but successfully locks in that much-needed moisture also. Behold the LJH Dr.’s Care BIO+N Barrier Cream. This incredible barrier cream will literally transform your skin, eradicating those pesky dry patches and returning your complexion to one of gorgeous vitality. I LOVE THIS!

3.Sunscreen: Try Biore UV AQUA Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+/PA ++++, £9.89, www.amazon.co.uk

We want a sunscreen to fully protect and boy, does this do a good job. Providing optimal protection against UV rays and being sweat and water-proof, the lightweight watery formula doesn’t feel like the sticky mess that is sun cream; thus, it melts straight into the skin and stays put!

Additionally, this amazing formula contains skin-loving hyaluronic acid, royal jelly extract and citrus mix – making it an unbelievable skincare product to boot!

I have been using this sunscreen for some considerable time and I have no intention of EVER running out!

4 Of The Best Concealers That Actually Deliver

Hey Lovelies!

I don’t know about you but I’m so tired of getting excited about trying new concealers only to discover they just don’t stand up to the job. We want concealers to do what they promise – conceal. We want concealers that make our skin look better – not cakey, older or patchy (even when we’ve spent more than long enough blending). I quite like some Rimmel products, but I found their “Hide The Blemish” concealer to be a huge fail.

Check out the best concealers around (and the best prices) that actually deliver true coverage and will improve your appearance!

1.Max Factor Pan Stik, £7.18, www.amazon.co.uk

This has to be one of my all-time favourite concealers. It instantly provides superior, yet natural coverage for pretty much every skin concern. The lightweight formula blends easily and lasts as long as your foundation (unlike the useless twist pen stick concealers), it is excellent value for money. I always come back to this concealer (for good reason). #happydays.

2.Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer, £20.40 (Was £24), www.debenhams.com

With its light-diffusing capabilities to blur and combining an array of proven skin-nourishing ingredients, this formula ensures your complexion will be nothing short of radiant. 3.Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer, £9.75 (RRP £19.50), www.feelunique.com

Yay!

4.MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, £18.50 (9ml), www.maccosmetics.co.uk

You didn’t think I could discuss great makeup without mentioning MAC, did you? Of course not. I hate concealers that (even when you use a setting spray) seem to either disappear completely, or stubbornly remain in unattractive vague patches on your face. Behold MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealer. The lightweight product feels amazing, is lightweight whilst simultaneously achieving excellent coverage and has serious staying power. I love this!

Check out the 6 best beauty tools that will transform your complexion. Although this looks like something a Star Trek Voyager crew member may point at you, it’s actually something far more useful. This quirky little device will literally transform your complexion. The facial massager simulates the same movements as that of Sarah’s celebrity-adored signature facial. Not only does it achieve a significant lift and radiant glow, but the clever tool also makes light work of ridding toxins and puffiness. Hooray!

Well, it’s just over a week until Santa tackles the chimney (excuse me while I nip outside to scream in sheer panic). If like me, you’ve almost run out of cash and at present the stockings don’t exactly look brimming, read on. Here are some amazing beauty stocking filler gifts (at such a good price you can even buy 2 of each and keep one for yourself). #Hohoho!

Whether the colour in your lips is beginning to fade and you want to inject a boost of beautiful colour for Christmas or are simply after a key colour trend to see you through party season, Benefit’s Benetint is the perfect answer.

My advice – don’t think of this as a lipstick per se when applying to your lips. When I first tried this I simply brushed it on – big mistake. What you need to actually do is brush a few drops on and blend, repeating the process until you achieve the desired colour. The results are a gorgeous rosy glow that truly lasts. LOVE!

L’Oreal’s Double Extension Mascara offers a two-step system comprising of a conditioning base coat  (loaded with Ceramide R and containing fibres), of which ensures a luscious lengthening effect.
