Totally Affordable And Must-Have Skincare Products I’m Loving This Week

Hey Lovelies!

Today I am sharing with you some of the best affordable skincare products I’ve tried this week. Being on lockdown allows for that extra time to consider the benefits or flaws in a product. After intensive review, the following must-have skincare items have my gold standard seal of approval:

1.Paula’s Choice Defense Essential Glow Moisturiser SPF30, £10 (30ml), www.paulaschoice.co.uk

Should you be new to Paula’s Choice, I will let you in on a little secret – this brand kicks serious ass. Providing superior skincare results with pretty much every product I’ve reviewed; this moisturiser works wonders for my complexion. My skin type is dry, and I find it instantly soaks into the skin, working its magic in Nanoseconds and keeping me feeling sheer delight for the entirety of the day.

Including mineral sun protection and an array of antioxidants to thwart free radicals from environmental factors and blue light, this cream literally has you covered. Such components as argan, liquorice root extract and kiwi, mean you can kiss goodbye to aging and dull skin. Expect instead, an even complexion of radiant luminosity (hooray). At £10, this is the perfect way to see for yourself just how good it really is! (Suitable for all skin types).

2.MD3 Firm 3Neuropeptide Serum With EGF, £14.99 (Was £59.99), www.amazon.co.uk

Check out the unbelievably massive price drop on this awesome serum! The world may be going to shit, but we can bag an outstanding skincare product with the money we would have spent at Costa’s on our daily commute! See, every cloud and all that? EGF is a remarkable ingredient that usually costs a fortune to get your hands on.

For those who aren’t aware, EGF stands for epidermal growth factor and its basically a protein that heals skin. It does this by sending signals, conditioning your skin cells to behave like the youthful ones we all favour). Now, if only I could get a product that train my brain to act more mature. I do love Bioeffect EGF Serum, but it is over £100 and this one is equally as good and on offer. Duh!

3.Yardley of London English Rose Nourishing Hand Cream, £3.46 (100ml), www.amazon.co.uk

Because everyone needs this in their lives right now! What better choice than the creamy feel of this nurturing hand cream? Roses have to be my most cherished flower (for candles, perfumes and skincare), so for me – having to apply this a zillion times a day is a win-win! Combining 95% natural ingredients, being paraben-free and boasting the skin-loving ingredients (essential fatty acids and vitamin E), whilst costing next to nothing – this hand cream is too good to miss.

4.Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream with Niacinamide, £12.45, www.amazon.co.uk

You don’t need to spend crazy amounts of cash to ensure you stay looking beautiful (cue the universal sigh of relief). When stuck in a domino effect of sleepless nights, you need that extra help to keep you (at least appearing) like you’re not the walking dead. Behold the household brand, Olay. A classic that never fails to deliver fantastic results – this formula contains the key ingredients to reduce bags, puffiness, lines and wrinkles. Phewsie!

Here’s How To Achieve The ‘Mochi Skin’ Look With Minimal Effort

Hey Lovelies!

Wait a minute – what the HELL is ‘mochi skin’? Move over ‘cloud’ and ‘glass skin’ trends, for there’s another inspirational look in town and we all want it (according to the Instagram stats). Time to get on-board with ‘mochi skin’. Time is something everyone has at the moment, so immerse yourselves in some serious pampering.  Contrary to ‘glass skin’, this one is super-easy to achieve and maintain. Check out how to create the much sought-after ‘mochi’ complexion, with minimal effort:

What is ‘Mochi Skin’?

Based on the name of a Japanese ice cream, the J-beauty inspired ‘mochi’ complexion would basically denote an appearance of plump, soft and supple deliciousness.

How?

Instead of harsh exfoliators, opt for gentle oil-based or vitamin-infused cleansers. The idea being, to effectively remove impurities without compromising on the health of your skin or its barrier. Furthermore, as with all things, you must put in some effort. Thinking one evening and morning of this process is enough would be wrong. Think of it like exercise – a ten-minute workout will not keep gravity at bay forever more (believe me, I’ve tried). This should be thought of as a long-term plan, if you want that Disney Princess skin to last longer than the lockdown! #Mochiskin, here we come!

1.Double Cleanse

oskia renaissance cleansing gel
Credit: Oskia Skincare

The double cleanse is something most of us overlook (mainly due to a lack of time). One perk of a lockdown is you can treat your skin to some double cleansing luxury. For optimal results, I am loving Nuxe’s Micellar Cleansing Oil, £15.50 (150ml), www.nuxe.com. It contains rose petals, is non-drying and makes my heart sing! Next, one of my all-time faves – Oskia’s vitamin-rich Renaissance Cleansing Gel, £35 (100ml), www.oskiaskincare.com

2.Hydrating Lotion

In order to achieve that plump complexion, we need an intense dose of hydration. Hence, a hydrating lotion should be one of your key products. Hydrating lotions should contain hyaluronic acid to provide intense hydration and locking it in. I love As I Am So Much Moisture Hydrating Lotion, £10.75 (375ml), www.lookfantastic.com.

3.Serum

how to achieve mochi skin look minimal effort
Credit: Glossier

A lightweight serum will go a long way in achieving the much-loved ‘mochi skin’ look. Glossier’s Super Glow, £24 (30ml), www.glossier.com contains vitamin C and magnesium that ensure your skin acquires an enviable glow. This is a particularly good serum for dehydrated or mature skin and will banish dark spots with unbelievable ease.

4.Moisturiser

mochi skin trend, bioderma hydrabio creme

Most people would be fine with either a moisturiser or a serum – however, should your complexion be especially parched, opt for both. A fantastic product is Bioderma’s Hydrabio Crème, £15, www.amazon.co.uk. Hydrating, moisturising, nurturing and lightweight – this cream ticks all the right boxes.

5.SPF

achieve mochi skin look with minimal effort, skinceuticals sheer uv protect spf
Credit: Face The Future

Essential for any skincare routine, the final step is to apply a good SPF of at least 30+. I am totally smitten with SkinCeuticals Sheer Mineral UV Defense SPF 50, £31.95 (50ml), www.facethefuture.co.uk.

Make the most of your lockdown situation and give yourself some well-deserved ‘mochi’ TLC.

Have you tried any of these products and what are your thoughts? Leave me a message in the comments below and have a lovely Wednesday people xx

Rosacea is a common inflammatory skin condition – but one we do not need to suffer. The good news is it can be treated. Neuropeptides: Why They Can Transform Your Skin

Hey Lovelies!

Delving into the world of peptides and neuropeptides: Why they Can Transform Your Skin, NO BS!

Our mission: To keep our skin looking gorgeous for as long as possible, defying age. Or maybe time has marched on and you need something to turn back the clock? Luckily, there are a few key ingredients that are proven to help in our quest – peptides and neuropeptides are components not to ignore. They can literally transform your skin.

The majority of us know about the benefits of hyaluronic acid, retinol and vitamin C. However, peptides and neuropeptides often are forgotten. This is bizarre, given the extensive studies that prove their anti-aging powers. Read on:

We are becoming increasingly aware of what ingredients actually help our skin and over the past few years peptides and neuropeptides have grown in popularity.

What are Peptides?

Basically, they are chains of amino acids that build protein (think of Lego). Proteins are fundamental in forming and maintaining healthy skin, hair, etc.

Amino acids aid in building proteins that achieve specific functions. Some are entirely for optimal skin tone and texture (damn, these must be the amino acids that missed the boat with my body!). Peptides are crucial in keeping your skin looking fabulous.

What Do They Do?

As regards to our skin, peptides strengthen proteins needed to maintain a healthy and youthful complexion. Although they naturally occur, nothing lasts forever, and aging causes their formation to slow down.

What Are Neuropeptides?

Neuropeptides are a little more complex. In skincare terms, they work by communicating with  skin cell and basically managing their function. Furthermore, they can affect the skin’s neurotransmitters, relaxing nerve cells and thus creating a more rejuvenated complexion.

When added to anti-aging products, neuropeptides are showing significant benefits. We are seeing just how successful they are in tackling the pesky signs of aging. Another few years and they will be as well-known as retinol for dealing with the dreaded age-factor.

The Best Neuropeptide And Peptide Products Are As Follows:

1.Perricone MD Neuropeptide Night Cream, $180, www.perriconemd.com

This super-powerful product is literally in a league of its own. The combined neuropeptides work hard whilst you snooze, strengthening your skin’s defence system, blocking the communication pathways that cause the onslaught of wrinkles, and generally rejuvenating your complexion. This amazing night cream also comes with DMAE to effectively aid in tackling skin that is losing its firmness. It may come with a high price tag – but it is SO worth it! #Gorgeous!

2.The Ordinary, Buffet, £12.70 (30ml), www.theordinary.com

Pretty impressive on every level, this multi-peptide serum offers an outstanding variety of actual anti-aging benefits at the cost of a Costa with your friends. I’m not sure how the Ordinary achieve such incredible results at this price but achieve it they do.

Including 11 amino acids, hyaluronic acid and Matrixyl 3000, you can expect some seriously good-looking skin.

3.MD3 Firm3 Neuropeptide Serum With Growth Factor (EGF), £14.99, www.amazon.co.uk

When looking for the few products that provide neuropeptide properties, you will discover they generally come at a high price. Not so with this little gem. MD3’s formula contains the biomimetic peptide that triggers the youth hormone and EGF (a K-beauty favourite). These work in unison to noticeably improve the skin in every way. You will be amazed at the difference this serum will make.

The Best Toners For Every Skin Concern

Hey Lovelies!

You may wonder if we really need toner in our skincare routine. The answer is a firm yes. First and foremost, those with acne prone or oily skin should always reach for the toner. It will significantly aid in removing excess sebum and unclog pores. However, everyone can benefit from the right toner for their skin type. It helps to diminish enlarged pores (a plus for just about everyone); restore pH balance; can prevent ingrown hairs, and some offer a layer of protection too. Here are the best toners for every skin concern.
